Advanced Cardboard Camp '26
By Craftsman & Apprentice
Advanced Cardboard Construction Camp Grab your glue gun, tape, and imagination. This week, cardboard becomes your building playground! Campers ages 8–12 will explore all kinds of construction techniques, from folding and cutting to joining and reinforcing, to create structures, sculptures, and interactive creations. Every day is a new challenge, a new skill, and a new way to think big with cardboard. Day One: Makers will create cardboard journals and hangable 3D letters. We’ll explore creating 3d form, attachments, and finishing techniques. Day Two: Masks/Animal heads: Makers will deepen their construction techniques using armature, taping, and moulding to create a mountable animal head or mask. Day Three: Design Challenge: Design and build a plant or animal sculpture using advanced attachments. We’ll practice cutting shapes with X-Actos and on the bandsaw. Days Four and Five: We’ll bring together all our new skills and add in some design thinking skills. Makers will be challenged to create objects of play. We’ll create miniature prototypes, consider our audience, gather feedback from fellow campers, and refine our cardboard toys to be super cool, eye-popping, and best of all fun! By the end of the week, campers will have advanced cardboard sculpting skills that will enable them to imagine and build just about anything using good old-fashioned cardboard.
