Summer Art Camp @ the Museum - Full Day

BMoCA is excited to be hosting summer art camps for ages 6-11 in June of 2026. We spend our days in the stunning upstairs studio above the museum, and get to make art while being inspired by our surroundings and the contemporary artists' work on display.

Each week includes a museum tour, and each day includes break time outdoors on the large grassy lawns in front of the museum. With a low student-teacher ratio, the most inspiring space, exposure to contemporary art while making amazing work of our own - it doesn't get much better! Join us on Fridays for a mini exhibition during the last half hour (parents invited)!

Week 1: June 1 - 5, 2026

  • Art Around the World: Morning Session, 9am - 12pm Take a trip around the globe as we explore the vibrant arts and culture of international communities with a new project each day!
  • Ancient Arts: Afternoon Session, 1 - 4pm Hop in the time machine and imagine a period before museums or art supply stores while we create with the techniques and styles of ancient civilizations.

Week 2: June 8 - 12, 2026

  • Eco-friendly Arts: Morning Session, 9am - 12pm Campers will explore the innovative realm of sustainable art through recycled materials and collaborations with nature!
  • Artivist/Activist: Afternoon Session, 1 - 4pm Inspired by Nikkolas Smith’s “The Artivist,” campers will learn about the power of art and how it can be used to make positive change in the world!

Week 3: June 15 - 19, 2026

  • Make Your Mark!: Morning Session, 9am - 12pm From texture hunting to painting with marbles, toothbrushes, and twigs, this camp celebrates all those who refuse to color inside the lines. Join us for a week of expressive mark marking and unconventional techniques to embrace your inner abstractionist! 
  • Art Olympics: Afternoon Session, 1 - 4pm Ready, set...ART! With a little competition and a lot of fun, let’s explore the playful side of art with a week of creation-based games and challenges.

Week 4: June 22 - 26, 2026

  • Welcome to Box Burrow: Morning Session, 9am - 12pm You and your team of talented architects and designers have been tasked with helping to construct Boulder’s first cardboard neighborhood, Box Burrow! Whether it’s your dream house, a zoo of mythical creatures, or a two-story donut shop - Your imagination is the only limit to this paper town!
  • Mini-Mes: Afternoon Session, 1 - 4pm What if our freckles could be rhinestones and our hair was made of yarn? Join us for a week-long project of mixed media sculpture as we craft our very own life-size mini-mes.

Additional Camp Details & Costs

Cancellation Policy: A 90% refund will be given for cancellations made at least 10 business days before the camp; A cancellation made less than 10 business days before the camp will result in a 50% refund. We apologize, but no refunds can be given on the first day of camp.

Full day booking consists of two half day camps, plus an hour-long supervised lunch period. Please pack a lunch with your child.

About Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art

Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art (BMoCA) is a non-collecting institution that annually presents 14+ exhibitions at its flagship in downtown Boulder and partner location sand engaged 180+ artists. Originally called the Boulder Arts Center, the museum was first located in a small Victorian house. In 1976, the organization moved to its current location in downtown Boulder, a 1906 historic landmark building that once served as a warehouse and is now owned by the city and leased to the museum.
