Artful Yard Summer Camp - AM session
By Artful Yard
At Artful Yard we believe that children are hard-wired for creativity. Exploring the creative process for young minds is crucial for their natural learning and enjoyment of making. Our art sessions are designed with age appropriate projects and media that encourage inspiration, learning, skill development, art mediums and tools, and lots of playful fun! Camps are capped at 12 students to foster a sense of community among classes and ensure that all students receive adequate attention and care.
Session Themes:
June 8-12: Up in the Air - Think kites, clouds, wind chimes, and air balloons. The exciting “Up in the Air” art week explores various art media (both 2D and 3D age appropriate) to imagine and create things that fly and float. Who says that our heads need to stay out of the clouds?
June 22-26: Bugs and Beautiful Things - Wander into a tiny world of shimmering wings, curious beetles, and marvelous little creatures. Inspired by insects, young artists work with paint, collage, texture, and found materials to turn nature’s smallest wonders into vibrant creations that celebrate the magic hiding in the grass.
July 6-10: Clay Explorations - Squish, roll, pinch, and shape clay into creatures, treasures, and useful items from their imagination. With curious hands and big ideas, kids discover the magic of turning a simple lump of clay into something wonderfully their own.
July 20-24: Leaves, Feathers and Tiny Treasures - Little collectors turn nature’s smallest wonders into art. Feathers, leaves, seeds, and stones become tiny worlds, magical creatures, and beautiful surprises. There is treasure everywhere! August 3-7: The Puppet Party - Scraps of fabric, buttons, and imagination transform into lively puppet friends ready to tell their own stories! Young artists will design, build, and bring their creations to life, ending the week with a delightful puppet show full of laughter, creativity, and a touch of theatrical magic.

How many children are in each session?
We keep camp small and personal so every child gets attention and support. Sessions are limited to 12 campers.

Please send your child with: • Clothes that can get messy • Layers for outdoor days • A water bottle • A nut-free snack • Sunscreen for time outdoors. All art materials and tools are provided.

Meet your art teacher: Welcome to the first season of Artful Yard art camps for children at Flower Street Studio! My name is Tara McConnell and I I love connecting with young people in the creative process, and I so enjoy the energy that children bring to the studio as they explore and share their many ideas. I am so excited to open the studio for the 2026 summer season and see this dream come to life with your children. I hold a Colorado state license in art education for grades k-12, an MFA in visual art, and an MA in integrated arts and education. I have taught art in the public schools, art pods for toddlers, private lessons for adults, and I have facilitated several community-based projects in various settings. This summer is full of fun and exciting week-long sessions that each reflect a theme for inspiration and learning.
