Backpacking
By Girl Scouts of Colorado
A backpacking adventure through the rugged and scenic Rocky Mountains. Spend time at camp mastering skills in hiking, fire building, tent set-up, trekking, outdoor cooking, whittling and orienteering. It all leads up to a 5-night, 6-day off-site epic backpacking adventure. Campers should be comfortable living and sleeping in a rustic "survival" setting and be able to carry approximately 20-25 percent of their body weight. While on-site, campers stay in yurts with bunk beds. Bathroom facilities are outhouses and water troughs with showers available at a nearby bathhouse. While off-site backpacking, campers willl spend multiple nights at a primitive campsite, carrying gear, setting up tents, and cooking meals. There will be plenty of time for other fun on-site and off-site camp activities, including a trip to a local adventure park complete with zip lines and a high ropes course.
