Boulder Summer Camp - Week #10: Screen-Printing Camp
By Scribble Art Workshop
In this camp, artists will experience the authentic process of a fashion designer from sketching designs, to testing these designs as potential patterns using various colored inks on different fabrics, to formalizing a final motif and printing a group of cohesive apparel. We'll source some of our own garments and fabrics from local vintage shops and combine these pre-sewn garments with our own unique silkscreen designs. We'll finish up the week with a fashion show to share our completed work! Summer camp is one of our most beloved programs for campers, teachers and studio managers because of ALL the time we are able to dedicate to art-making and community building throughout the week. In addition to high-quality and multilayered art projects, our Boulder camp includes walks in our nearby parks and playgrounds, collaborative outdoor earthworks, and daily sketchbook challenges! At the conclusion of each week, families will be invited to an exhibit at the studio, where proud artists will share what they've created! You provide a daily bagged lunch, and we provide a healthy snack. This year, we're offering early drop off at 8:30am for $15/day or $60/week, and late pick up at 3:30pm for $15/day (charged manually on the day-of) or $60/week. We're also offering a 5pm extended day until for $50/day or $200/week. For artists who stay for 5pm extended day, they'll get an additional healthy snack, outdoor time and open ended art-making to finish up the day! About Scribble Art Workshop
Our Boulder studio is a welcoming, sunlight-filled, creative space.
Here, we encourage our young artists to explore all sorts of art-making including painting, sculpture, comic book illustration, printmaking, and most importantly, the full process of professional silkscreening. Our focus in this studio is exposing our students to careers in the arts, even at a very early age. We'll produce (with the help of the teen guild) yearly art markets, exhibitions and film festivals and create work with these culminating community events in mind. On a typical day in the studio, you'll find toddlers and pre-schoolers exploring materials in the mornings, our after-school clubhouse abuzz with socializing and creativity in the afternoons, and teens/adults learning from practicing artists in the evenings. On the weekends, our studio is alive with birthday parties, printmaking groups, adult art-making events and more.
