CIT Program (7th-9th)
By Curious Jane
Our CIT (Counselor-in-Training) Program is designed for rising 7th, 8th, and 9th graders who are excited to build leadership skills and support younger makers in a creative, energetic camp environment. CITs work closely with our camp staff, assisting with hands-on projects, group activities, and day-to-day camp flow while gaining meaningful experience for future jobs and volunteer roles.
CITs take on real responsibilities and are expected to approach the role with maturity, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude. They should be fully engaged with their camp group throughout the day. While designated break times and cell phone moments are provided, phones must remain stored away during all camp activities.
Key CIT responsibilities include:
Greeting and welcoming campers each morning Assisting with class projects and offering support to young makers Helping lead afternoon collaborative activities Being a supportive, enthusiastic, and dependable member of the camp community
New for 2026: CITs will follow the same schedule as campers (8:30am–3:00pm) and will now count toward the classroom capacity limit of 15 students, as required by licensing.
We highly recommend CITs commit to at least two weeks for the best experience, though this is not required. Pre-camp training dates will be shared by May 15th, and there will also be a required Zoom meeting with the Director and fellow CITs before camp begins.
Notes Curious Jane does not provide food. Please pack a nut-free, non-perishable lunch and 2–3 snacks each day. Half-day campers only need snacks and do not require a lunch.
