Emerging Filmmakers Workshop: Introduction to Filmmaking (Two Weeks)

The Emerging Filmmakers Workshop is a story-based filmmaking program for teens. Each workshop provides opportunities for students to find their individual voice by creating original content, making films, studying films, and more. Founded and led by professional filmmaker and educator, Neil Truglio, the workshops are designed to reach students at every stage of their storytelling development with the goal to foster personal expression and engage the power of young voices through the art of filmmaking. In this two-week workshop, students will work in teams to create two unique short films, while learning the specific roles required to run a professional film set. Each week ends with a red carpet screening of the short films created for friends and family! Sack lunch option available for purchase at check-out.

Teacher Bio: Neil Truglio is a Denver-based filmmaker, artist, and educator. His original film work has been seen around the world, highlighted by showcases in Rotterdam, Tribeca, Buenos Aires and the American Film Festival in Wroclaw, Poland. Neil has taught film throughout the state as the Director of Education for both Denver Film Festival and SeriesFest, and his signature program, Mobile Cinema Lab, is currently taught in cities across the country. Additionally, Neil was the founder of youth arts organizations Emerging Filmmakers Workshop, and Modest Arts, and has been a teaching artist with both the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, and Curious Theatre’s New Voices. Neil currently serves as the Technical Theater Director at Kent Denver, Artistic Director at Benchmark Theatre, and part of the adjunct faculty at the Colorado Film School.
