Exploring Identity Through Visual Art and Poetry: Summer Camp for ages 11-13
By Lighthouse Writers
This unique camp combines the power of words and visual arts, allowing participants to create “poetraits” that express their multifaceted selves or the essence of someone or something they resonate with. The workshop is designed to explore the intersection of poetry and visual art. In camp we’ll learn to create visual "poetraits" using abstract drawing techniques and powerful text; reflect on personal themes such as identity, emotions, or community; create a unique art piece combining poetic expression and visual elements. Open to writers of all genres. No experience in poetry or visual arts required, just come as you are and we’ll explore together! We’ll even spend a day writing at the Denver Art Museum.
On the day of our field trip, parents will be asked to drop students off at the DAM, and pick them up there as well. We’ll have at least a 1:7 adult to child ratio during our field trip, to make sure everyone sticks together.
