If you’re 11 years or older and have been playing your guitar, keyboard, trumpet, drums, or singing and want to share that with other like-minded people then the Swallow Hill House of Rock “First Band” is for you!

Throughout the course of one week, we will form a band, find a name, learn eight rock songs from different artists, genres, and time periods, practice those songs, and perform a huge show. The director and sectional teachers will guide the group in the fundamentals of learning basic songs from the blues era to the indie rock of today with an emphasis on learning the roles of the players in the band. Whether it’s singing backup vocal parts in a Sly and the Family Stone jam or shredding the guitar solo of a Greta Van Fleet song, we learn it all. Come join us and we shall listen, laugh, jump, and ROCK!

House of Rock Summer Camp

Swallow Hill Music’s House of Rock Summer Camp is now in its 16th year! At House of Rock, students ages 11-18 will get hands-on experience necessary to play in a band with other musicians.

In each week-long session, campers will learn how to use their gear, play through a sound system, understand and read music charts, find and create a part in the band, write songs, play with other musicians, gain performance techniques, and develop skills for managing a performance group.

Camps are open to guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, vocals, horns, strings, and even banjo. If you have an instrument that is not listed, give our front desk a call and find out if we can make your instrument work in a band setting!

Attendees will get numerous opportunities each day to play and practice in duos, trios, and in a full band setting. All ensemble and band work is taught and directed by the camp faculty.

Each week of camp ends with a performance in Daniels Hall – complete with a full sound system, sound engineer, and lights.
