Math in Food and Nature

See how math rules the real world, from the forest to the flour. In the morning, you’ll master proportionality by scaling complex recipes, explore food geometry by analyzing surface area and volume, and take learning outdoors to apply trigonometry to environmental measures. In the afternoon, you will visit Little Kitchen Academy to work at your own professional-grade cooking station, focusing on advanced cooking techniques with more independence and exploring the chemistry and physics of cooking.

The scratch-to-consumption process ensures full responsibility. You’ll leave with confidence in the kitchen and an understanding of how math fuels your everyday world. It is led by Middle School math department chair, Terri Otto.
