Oceanside Relics: Mystical Watercolor Paintings and Shell Art

School is out and Art is In! Spend your day out of school being creative with us. We’ll make new friends, create beautiful art and spend time playing outside in the gorgeous Colorado sunshine. Summer is on the horizon, and while the ocean may be far away, it's always close to our hearts! In this camp, students will dive into the tender, nature-inspired art of German artist Joana Bernd, whose work is deeply rooted in the beauty of the sea. Using vibrant watercolors, campers will experiment with the wet-on-wet technique, creating fluid, dreamlike pieces that evoke the peaceful energy of the ocean. Students will then add a magical twist by pasting their paintings onto larger sheets of paper, then painting again to transform their artwork into a framed masterpiece. It’s an exciting surprise that turns each painting into a work of art and its own frame in one! While the watercolors dry, campers will explore a treasure trove of seashells, rope, paint, and glue to create their own oceanside relics. With plenty of room for imagination, they’ll craft everything from jewelry and mobiles to sculptures. In the end, they’ll share their creations in a fun group showcase, celebrating all the creative wonders of the sea. Please read the Art Camp Information document to make camp a success for everyone.
