So You Want to Be a… Forensic Scientist Continued (Week 3)

Ever wonder how crimes are solved using science? In this hands-on camp, students will step into the shoes of a forensic scientist and explore the exciting world of crime scene investigation! Over the course of five days, campers will learn how to analyze evidence, use real forensic techniques, and apply their critical thinking skills to solve mini mysteries daily. Camp activities will include fingerprint analysis, DNA extraction, blood spatter investigation, and other exciting evidence techniques - all done in a developmentally appropriate curriculum. Each day students will explore engaging lab activities, interactive discussions, and teamwork to help piece together clues and crack the case! Whether you're interested in science, love solving mysteries, or just curious about the world of forensics, this camp is the perfect way to explore what it takes to become a forensic scientist.
Teacher Bio: Dr. Mary Fran Park is a veteran teacher at Kent Denver. She is currently our school’s Science Department Chair. She teaches all sorts of science courses including AP Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Forensic Science, and Chemistry (to name a few). Prior to becoming a classroom teacher, Dr. Park was a marine scientist who worked for a number of field seasons in Antarctica! She is obsessed with all things mystery and loves to see how science plays a critical role in crime scene investigations.

Lunch can be purchased through Kent Denver for all classes below 50 in number. Students may bring their own lunch.
