So You Want to Be a… Marine Biologist
By Kent Denver School
Do you love the ocean and the creatures that inhabit it? Have you ever thought about being a marine biologist? This week-long camp, run by Kent Denver’s marine science teacher, Mr. Gray, is for enthusiasts of marine organisms. Campers will learn how to collect microorganisms via a plankton tow on our upper reservoir and will complete art projects related to marine biology. Campers will learn about the different types of marine animals that exist in our oceans and will create art that highlights their favorites. Campers will also dissect marine creatures (including squid and sharks) to learn about their anatomy and further their journey as budding marine biologists!
Teacher Bio: Mr. Gray was born and raised in the Washington D.C. area. He attended Wake Forest University and has Master’s Degrees from the University of Washington and the University of Denver. As a lover of marine animals, his favorite class to teach is the marine science elective. He has been scuba diving all over the world and has recently taken trips to film humpback whales and whale sharks in the wild.
