Soft Toy Studio Junior (1st-3rd) Full Day

Welcome to Soft Stuff Studio — the junior edition of one of Curious Jane’s all-time favorites: Toy Design! Designed especially for makers in K–3rd grade, this camp focuses on fun, confidence-building projects with simple stitching and lots of no-sew creations that are perfect for younger hands.

Makers dive into the world of plush creations as they design and build their own collection of soft toys and imaginative characters. Campers create everything from pocket-sized pets and emoji pillows to monster plushies, food-inspired squishies, and custom character designs — all with vibrant fabrics, playful textures, and plenty of creative freedom. They learn introductory sewing skills, explore basic pattern-making, and experiment with different materials and fillings. It’s the perfect mix of crafting, designing, and cuddly creativity — because everything is better when it’s soft, handmade, and made by you!

Notes Curious Jane does not provide food. Please pack a nut-free, non-perishable lunch and 2–3 snacks each day. Half-day campers only need snacks and do not require a lunch.

Sample Class Format 8:30–8:45am — All Camp Drop-Off / Check-In 8:45–9:00 — Morning Greeting & Soft Start (Daily design prompt, quick sketch of a plush character, texture-play warm-up, and sharing inspiration for the day’s soft creation) 9:00–10:00 — Project Period 1: Feature Build (Start a core soft-toy project such as Pocket Pets, Emoji Pillows, or Monster Plushies) 10:00–10:30 — Snack 10:30–12:00 — Project Period 2: Weeklong Soft Collection (Work on ongoing builds like Socktopus friends, Soft Backpack Charms, DIY Sleeping Eye Masks, and custom character plushies) 12:00 — Lunch 12:30–1:15pm — Camp Collaborative (Group activities such as Fabric + Texture Quiz, Stitching Stations, and Design Challenges) 1:15–2:45 — Project Period 3: Finishing Touches & Soft Details (Add embellishments, sew or no-sew features, add expressions, experiment with patterns, and personalize plush accessories) 2:45 — Clean Up & Pack Up 3:00 — Parent Pick-Up
