Spy Science (3rd-6th) Full Day

For curious agents ready to level up their sleuthing skills, Spy Science is a week packed with high-tech mystery, hands-on investigations, and advanced problem-solving. Campers dive into the world of espionage as they engineer real working spy gadgets, experiment with scientific detection techniques, and master classic cryptography. With each challenge, they uncover new clues, analyze evidence, and sharpen their logic and observation skills — all while tackling a top-secret mission that runs throughout the week.

Projects include build-your-own intruder alarms, DIY periscopes, scytale decoders, fingerprint and DNA analysis, camouflage design, light and shadow surveillance tools, and advanced hidden-message makers. By the end of the week, campers will have a full arsenal of spy tech — and the skills to crack even the toughest cases.

Notes Curious Jane does not provide food. Please pack a nut-free, non-perishable lunch and 2–3 snacks each day. Half-day campers only need snacks and do not require a lunch. Each camper receives one camp t-shirt per summer. A second t-shirt can be purchased for $12 and will feature the same design in a different color. This is a great option for campers attending multiple weeks of camp.

Sample Class Format 8:30–8:45am — All Camp Drop-Off / Check-In 8:45–9:00 — Morning Greeting & Sleuth Kickoff (Daily mystery prompt, quick sketch of a disguise or gadget, warm-up clue challenge, and sharing detective strategies) 9:00–10:00 — Project Period 1: Feature Build (Start a core spy project such as Detective Disguises, Secret Message Makers, or Flashlight Wands) 10:00–10:30 — Snack 10:30–12:00 — Project Period 2: Weeklong Case Files (Work on ongoing investigations and builds like intruder alarms) 12:00 — Lunch 12:30–1:15pm — Camp Collaborative (Group activities such as Spy Scavenger Hunts and Mini Sleuth Challenges) 1:15–2:45 — Project Period 3: Gadget Making & Case Cracking (Add enhancements to spy tools, create Magic 8 Balls, build hidden compartments and complete clue trails) 2:45 — Clean Up & Pack Up 3:00 — Parent Pick-Up
