The Art of Cooking and Baking: Fun with World Flavors

Through cooking and baking, campers will explore the culinary history and flavors of various cuisines from around the world! Budding chefs will enjoy an exotic journey as they delve into inspirational recipes from regions across the globe. So, grab your passports and come explore amazing delicacies and dishes that exemplify the richness of various cultures and identities. Invited guest chefs will come and share their knowledge, skills, specialties and talents. Safety and hygiene will be covered as students experience “professional” hands-on cooking and baking. Students will use knives and work around hot and steamy cooking equipment under the supervision of our expert team. Sharing clear expectations and safety will be reiterated daily. Campers will be asked to provide containers from home to transport amazing foods from their daily cooking and baking travels! Though aprons are provided, campers may bring their own. Young chefs should wear comfortable clothing that can get messy, closed toed shoes and their hair pulled back.

Teacher Bio: Dan has loved food and cooking his entire life! He spent nearly 20 years working in the restaurant/hospitality industry and then as a Spice Merchant with Savory Spice based in Colorado for over 16 years. He currently works with Slow Food Denver as a Classroom Cooking Instructor teaching students in an after school program called Seed to Plate. He loves spending time with his 7-year-old son in the kitchen, skiing with his lovely wife, traveling, and trying his best to learn Spanish. In the words of Mark Twain..."Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness."

Lunch can be purchased through Kent Denver for all classes below 50 in number. Students may bring their own lunch.
