Wild Crescent Camp at Bear Creek Greenbelt
By Wild Crescent Forest School
Wild Crescent Summer Camp is a nature-based, child-led outdoor program designed for children ages 5 to 11 who thrive when given space to explore, imagine, and grow. Rooted in the forest school model, the camp takes place in a natural setting, where children spend their days immersed in hands-on learning and play. The program emphasizes creativity, resilience, and community, with a strong focus on helping each child build confidence and social-emotional skills through real-world experiences. Families can feel confident knowing the program prioritizes safety, thoughtful guidance, and a nurturing environment, supported by certified teaching staff and a strong commitment to child well-being. Each day at camp is shaped by the children themselves. Instead of a rigid schedule, campers follow their curiosity through activities like building forts, exploring local ecosystems, identifying plants and wildlife, creating art from natural materials, and engaging in group games and storytelling. They learn practical outdoor skills such as problem solving, teamwork, and risk assessment, often with opportunities to work with tools, cook in nature, or participate in inquiry-based projects. Visiting experts like geologists or herbalists may also join sessions, adding depth and excitement to the experience. This balance of guided support and self-directed exploration helps children develop independence, adaptability, and a genuine love of learning. At its core, Wild Crescent Summer Camp offers something many children are missing today: time to slow down, connect with nature, and discover who they are. In an environment that encourages wonder and welcomes getting a little dirty, children build lasting confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging.

About Wild Crescent Forest School
Wild Crescent Forest School is a nature-based, child-led program that supports the whole child through immersive outdoor experiences. Grounded in the forest school philosophy, it centers on exploration, creativity, and supported risk-taking in natural settings like forests and open spaces. Instead of a fixed curriculum, children are encouraged to follow their curiosity, building confidence, resilience, and social-emotional skills through hands-on play. The result is a learning environment that feels both joyful and intentional, where children develop independence and problem-solving skills within a safe and thoughtfully guided structure. The school is founded and led by CodyAnne Corpening, an experienced educator with a background spanning classrooms, camps, and outdoor programs. With training in elementary education and youth mental health, she brings a balanced approach that combines professional expertise with a deep respect for childhood and nature. Her philosophy is further shaped by learning from Indigenous communities, blending traditional perspectives with modern educational practices. For parents, this means a program led with care, clarity, and a strong commitment to each child’s growth, well-being, and connection to the natural world.
