Opti Green Fleet

Introduction to racing for kids ages 8–13 who are new to sailing and want to learn how to race. Sailors learn the basics of Optimist dinghy sailing including sail trim, boat handling, starts, and basic strategy. The team practices twice a week on Saturdays and Sundays year-round, with a dedicated Summer Green Fleet Practice on Wednesdays.

Sailors generally complete 1–2 weeks of summer camp and/or a learn-to-sail program before joining. After one year in Green Fleet, sailors advance to the Red, White & Blue Fleet. Year-round pricing: $225/month ($200/month with own equipment — no CCSC equipment). Summer Green Fleet Practice: $150/month (Wednesdays 9:30AM–1PM). Annual CCSC student or family membership required. Regatta registration fees not included. Coach: Evan Thomas (Youth Sailing Coordinator).

The Clearwater Community Sailing Center (CCSC) is dedicated to providing safe, enriching, and affordable sailing opportunities for local residents and visitors, including youth, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Through a variety of activities such as sailing lessons, boat rentals, and community events, CCSC promotes inclusivity and environmental appreciation while fostering a love for sailing in the Gulf Coast community.
