Agentic AI & Machine Learning
By Lavner Education - Colorado
Are you ready to create technology that can think for itself?
Agentic AI & Machine Learning is an intensive, one-week program designed for aspiring engineers and coders aged 10–14. This camp is your opportunity to move past basic programming and delve into the cutting-edge concepts powering modern Artificial Intelligence. You’ll learn to build and train autonomous systems that can learn from data, set goals, and solve complex, multi-step problems.
Advanced Concepts and Hands-On Development
This program emphasizes practical application, algorithmic logic, and critical evaluation, providing a robust introduction to real-world AI development:
Core Machine Learning (ML) Fundamentals: Grasp the principles of supervised learning by diving into a classic dataset. You will work directly with the MNIST dataset (a collection of thousands of handwritten digit images) to understand how data is organized, processed, and used to train a system. Algorithmic Training and Implementation: You’ll use a simple but powerful “brain” called the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm. This “brain” learns to recognize the numbers by comparing a new image to its “nearest neighbors” (the most similar examples) in the data library. Model Refinement and Evaluation: After training the AI, you’ll test it to see how often it makes mistakes. Then, you’ll figure out why it made those mistakes (finding bias) and how to tweak the settings to make it more accurate. The Power of Agentic AI: This is the most cutting-edge part! You’ll build an AI Agent—a system that can set a goal (like “win the game”), figure out the steps, and act on its own. It uses the Machine Learning predictions you made to guide its behavior. Ethical Design and Critical Review: The camp culminates in designing a final Agentic AI project. You’ll learn to think like a responsible engineer. You’ll not only build your final project but also explain how to keep it safe, fair, and non-harmful in the real world.
Example Projects
Building the Data Library: You’ll sort through the handwritten numbers and prepare them so the computer can understand them. The Digital Detective: You’ll train the KNN to look at a new handwritten digit and correctly guess what number it is. You’ll see exactly how it makes its classification decisions. Fixing the Flubs: If the model confuses a ‘7’ for a ‘1’, you’ll adjust the training rules to boost its accuracy and make it a better guesser The Autonomous Player: You’ll create an agent that uses a known data set to play a simple game..
Your Future Technology Portfolio
By the end of the week, you will have a portfolio showcasing functional AI projects and a comprehensive understanding of the systems that drive autonomous technology, preparing you for future studies in computer science and data engineering.
Campers should have at minimum some coding experience with Python™ or AI, such as having attended at least one week of a Lavner Coding with Python camp or similar.
