Farmyard Fun with Ella

Calling all Farmers!! Join Ella for a week of old-fashioned summer fun at the Fun at the Farm themed camp! Campers will spend time visiting Kent Denver's Tiny Farm and learning about goats, chickens, horses and bunnies along with observing wildlife, as campers hike along the Highline Canal near Kent Denver's campus. Campers will focus on building our camp community and friendships through our daily morning meetings and community building games. Our young farmers will create arts and crafts together, read stories connected to farm animals and life on the farm, act out skits, have a daily guided meditation/yoga at age appropriate levels. There will be plenty of playtime and fun for all our young farmers!!! Sack lunch option available for purchase at check-out.

Teacher Bio: Ella Newcomb joined the Summer at KDS teaching community in 2020. She has worked as an assistant choral conductor, dance instructor, and preschool classroom teacher. Ella spent many summers working and playing on her family’s organic vegetable farm outside of Washington D.C. learning about the intricacies of running a working farm - planting to CSA agriculture, regenerative agricultural practices to tending chickens and so much more. With a BA in Comparative Literature and Education, Ella has a strong love for where these two disciplines meet. Having also grown up in the theater - performing, singing, and dancing in stage productions of Disney’s acclaimed tales, Magic Tree House Stories and other children’s literature turned from “page to stage”, Ella developed a deep love for the beauty of children's literature as well as a love of the earth and all that outdoor education brings to children.
