WOODWORKING
By Dawson School
Spend an intensive week in the Dawson wood shop. The emphasis of this camp is on design, the study of materials and processes, and the safe use of electric power tools and machines. The production of a curved top hardwood trunk will introduce campers to the skills of joinery, project planning, finishing, building, and design. The camp will employ a wide array of instructional techniques including lecture, demonstrations, one-on-one instruction, group and individual discussion, but is primarily a hands-on learning experience. The student project is the centerpiece of the camp. Repeat campers will build a Shaker - style night table or a bookshelf. Woodworkers who have participated in the camp more than three times have the option of working with the instructor to design and build a project of their own.
