Adaptive Ballet

An inclusive dance program for children with Down Syndrome, Autism, physical, mental, and emotional challenges, as well as wheelchair users. Curriculum draws from ballet, character, modern, music, and theatre. Students may transition into the mainstream ballet curriculum as they build confidence and technical skills. The studio is wheelchair accessible.

Class begins once six students are enrolled. Individualized educational plans developed with families. Instructor: Suzanne Pomerantzeff. Girls: any color leotard, tights, and ballet slippers. Boys: t-shirt, shorts, socks, and ballet slippers.

Founded in 1969, the Academy's mission is to help students express their individual ideas and emotions through movement, fostering creativity and community engagement while preparing young dancers for potential careers in the arts. The Academy offers a range of classes, including ballet, contemporary, and adaptive dance, and encourages students to participate in community performances.
