Lionfish Dissection

One-hour hands-on lionfish dissection in the indoor classroom. Participants learn how this invasive species threatens Tampa Bay's ecosystem and examine stomach contents to discover which local species it preys on. All specimens are responsibly harvested as part of invasive species removal programs. Includes Discovery Center admission. Guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

Additional Activity Details

All guests under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. All dissection guests must purchase a ticket to enter the classroom. Lionfish specimens are collected during invasive lionfish tournaments.
